Onboard Air Tanks...
#1
What are the best options for carrying your own air?

I know Sc00by has got his C02 thing goin' on and either Bob or SpshlJ has some sort of contraption in the back of their ride (i think it might be a still, though :)=)).

Are these for popping a tire back on the bead, or is anyone carrying onboard air for airing back up after air down on a trail. Do you need a compressor configuration, or would a good air tank suffice?

Just curious and would like to start planning... of course quick discos are next, but I'd like to start the air research.

What (if anything) are you guys using, or what do you see that makes sense, or is it not even worth hassling with?

Because Im a cheap (......) :)g)
I went the cheap way.
co2 regulator from Phx Welding (the one on 19th ave north of Deer Valley)
co2 reg was $50-$60
Harbor Freight air kit + tire gauge / air tool starter kit And the tire chuck
My bottle I got from a friend who went with one of them carbon fiber tanks $$$$
So I pay $20 to ex-change out my tank @ Phoenix Welding.
Now from my understanding you can use to to air up after a trail ride and / or to try & re-set a bead but to do the bead you'll need alot of PSI that startrer kit is only rated to 150psi so you may want to find something closer to 200 psi rating.
Good Luck & get them discos!!!!!

I have an onboard air system from ViAir with a 100% duty cycle compressor and have it plumbed to a tank mounted on the back rack. It works real good for airing up but it is a lot slower than a Co2 system.

Actually, being an ex race crew chief, I like to keep stuff cleaned up so it is easier to work on. I usually power wash it when I clean the jeep. I was doing a lot of work that day so I had just power washed everything. I don't however get real freaky about keeping all of it clean, it is a jeep and dirt is a good rust preventative!!!!
