Moab Run May 11 - 17 2008
#1
The plan is to leave on Sunday the 11th (yes that is Mothers Day) drive up to Moab and set up camp. The runs start on Monday and go all week long. We meet up at City Market about 8am and hook up with people that want to run the same trails. Some of the trails will be hard while some days we may do a photo run.
I was going to drive home on Sat the 17th but if things go south we can always leave early. Its a 10+ hour drive with the Jeep on a trailer.

Camping: I like the Slick Rock Camp. Its tent camping (I know that is evil to some of you) Hot showers and internet. Not to mention its cheap. $20 per night for a single tent with 2 people. $28 for a two tent site with 4 people.

Food: Last time I got a bunch of food here in AZ and never used it. I am going to be buying food in Moab at the City Market. Its also a great place to get a sandwich for the trail.
Moab also has some great places to eat and last time we went out for dinner most nights. Nothing to expensive.

Tools: I will be bringing most of my tools with me. I will also have some extra parts. If one of us should break something we don't have there are two shops in Moab. Not cheap but they have the goods.

If you have never been you need to go... If you have been you still need to go.

One last thing... I will be running some of the trails with the guys from New Mex VJC... Good guys with some sick rigs.

PIC#2: Same axle I broke here in Havasu on a 4ft waterfall, backing down for a better line. That was fun.

The dash is still the same color...

The 44 fixed the 35 problem.

Yeah, I need a 44 BEFORE that problem arises... Or an 8.8

Got any lines on either on the cheap?

Lets break down the cost for the trip so I can budget it out

Looking at 6 nights at $20 a night for a tent - $120

Food 3 meals a day - $30 a day - $180

Gas its about 450 miles to Moab, so thats 2 tanks there and 2 tanks back plus 1 tank in Utah - $200

So looking at around $500 for the trip, does that sound about right?
#11
Split the gas with a rider.
But don't forget the 40hr work week you have to forfeit
#12
and you get much better milage than I do. It's $50 a tank for me to fill up... 5 tanks equals $250 bucks and I suspect I'll use more than one tank in a week of wheelin' in Moab...

I'd add another $100 to the budget, then try to eat less food! LOL

Well, my official "Requested Time Off" form was just rejected. That week just happens to be the second week our new software we've been develping for the last two years is in the field, live, with clients... evidently I "need to be at work to support the successful launch of our initiative.".

Whatever.

Looking at 6 nights at $20 a night for a tent - $120 Thats $10 a person or $7 a person if we do a 2tent site.

Food 3 meals a day - $30 a day - $180 Yep...

Gas its about 450 miles to Moab, so thats 2 tanks there and 2 tanks back plus 1 tank in Utah - $200 I would add a little to that number.

So looking at around $500 for the trip, does that sound about right? $500 is a safe number

How big of a tent do you have? Its a bring your own tent thing... What stuff are you going to stash.
I left my doors in tent and never had a problem. If you don't want to leave it in the tent you could lock it up in my tow rig.
