Default Manmping - Haigler Backpack 8-15-14

Jonathan, Kevin, and I headed north for cooler temps to backpack/canyoneer/swim Haigler Creek. Friday evening we hiked in down a drainage and found a hammockable camp on the creek.
We saw a passel of elk, deer, turkeys and a fox.

The next day we packed up and headed downstream. There were a lot of deeper sections to navigate/float/swim. The rock here is different than WCC- it is grippy instead of slippery which is great for walking but not for bumping with legs.
The creek was a little muddied because of the rains instead of clear like usual.

There was a little brush busting but nothing too hard. We made it to the 20ft waterfall, dropped packs and continued on for about an hr further. We did not find any campsites comparable to our shaded/prettier/nestley one from the night before so we checked our daylight and decided to hike back up to original camp and go upstream the next day. We made it back to camp just as it downpoured. We waited it out and then finagled a campfire. We set up the tent rainflys we had brought just in case over our hammocks but it did not rain again that night.

The next day we went upstream and played in some more waterfalls and pools, threw things, and positioned our bodies in waterfall notches trying to create dams for the water so the water/noise would stop and then all get up turning the flow on again creating even awesomer waterfalls!

Anyway, we hiked back to camp where it rained another short time and then we hiked out in the nice cloud cover back to the vehicle.
Beeline cafe malts continued the journey.
